I think I believe this because of two things,
- " More content is produced, but is that a good thing if the content is garbage?" -- See I think this is the fundamental reason why; AI will not replace human art. I mean it is one thing to make an image; or make a three second clip that looks hyper-realistic -- maybe write a paragraph or text response... But writing... A cohesive book with an emotional, and unique story that appeals to an audience personally? A movie with similar attributes? Its drive is to make a movie, not tell a story, and I think that this would reflect.
- I think that AI has the ability to liberate us from most of society's more arduous jobs. For example, I do think it makes sense for robots to replace baristas -- then those baristas are able to focus on other things, rather than society requiring baristas to function, and requiring an underclass of people in our society to be delegated to low-paying barista jobs.
I think the fast food worker is the perfect example; they are already trying this. I understand that it is concerning for the job reasons, but the permanent underclass of people for labor isn't as required when low-skill labor is a job fulfilled by automation.... Of course, we should try to automate as much of society as possible. The important thing these people have to offer is not the hamburger, the scope of each human is not beyond that. With them not working and the hamburger still existing, then at least -- in theory this would be a good thing.
I understand that this is not necessarily the case in the context of today's society -- where this just means these people will be fired and have to find a new job in a hurry while juggling their bills. But in this way, I am speaking more to the benefits of the technology objectively -- not necessarily how they would apply to our social context, but how they would apply to the context of mankind, as well as artistic and Scientific progression.
Ultimately the more people working on a problem, the faster it gets solved. We have a lot of problems we need to deal with fast, and far too many minds wasted on the problem of flipping a hamburger.
