" Theory" likely doesn't mean what you, and likely the general public thinks that it does in Science .... To quote Google...
" A scientific theory is an explanation of an aspect of the natural world and universe that has been repeatedly tested and corroborated in accordance with the scientific method, using accepted protocols of observation, measurement, and evaluation of results. "
In other words, essentially proven -- we just always leave room for improvement.
My point is this -- the difference between sex and gender is well-established in the social, biological, and behavioral sciences. It's not really a debate anymore, and it really hasn't been since the 1960s. This misconception of sex being aligned to gender is exactly what helps to stir discrimination for us, and it's something that represents an ignorance as to the facts.
The word " gender" was rebranded to mean what you think it means in the 1980s -- specifically to target us with what literal liberation the Scientific validation had given us.
While I personally think the tenets of queer theory are quite obvious, this is not even what the primary discussion was about in the article.
What really triggered the response was someone saying " gender is not a social construct" and then conflating sex with gender and not knowing anything about anything when it comes to the actual Science -- to top all the misinformation about a sensitively small social group off, she was transgender. 🤦🏼♀️
Honestly it just makes me so upset. I really wish more people could just follow the Science on things.... Our education systems have collectively failed the vast majority of people.
Thank you for taking interest, good luck in finding future knowledge.
