This is certainly true, Python is packaged with pretty much any Linux distribution, and runs on millions of servers in the world, so weight is definitely a factor. While Python is definitely one of the most used high-level languages in general, there certainly is no denying the growing population of statistical users.

Of course its important that Python maintains its light-weight, but I do think its likely that as users head in certain directions, Python will definitely try to cater to those directions. While, of course this doesn’t mean in any stretch that Numpy will be added to Python, it is quite possible for an integration of basic array math (as many similar high-level languages do)

No, Numpy isn’t going to merge into Python; but it is interesting to think about what additions might be coming to the language from a package that’s so frequently used across the board. (especially down the line)
